William Ledyard Mitchell, Jr
Ledyard was born 11 February 1912 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and died 30 June 2002 in
Westwood, Massachusetts. In
the
early 1930s, he eloped with Josephine Schlotman (neither family
approved). They had three daughters. He and Josephine divorced in
the early 1950s; she remarried and is now deceased. Ledyard then
married Heidi Flannery, about 1955. They had two sons.
Heidi died in the late 1980s, after a protracted battle with cancer.

The
first wife of Wm. Ledyard Mitchell,
Jr. In 1953, she would remarry to Thomas Mellon Evans, a
Pittsburgh native who would make his mark in the '50s and '60s as a
Wall Street financier and corporate raider.

Mary Sherman Mitchell
Mary was born 26 July 1913 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She died 4 November 1943
in Detroit, Michigan, as a result of an incorrect medication administered
while she was in the hospital recovering from the birth of her second
child. She married Paul Harvey Deming, Jr., of Grosse Pointe
Farms, Michigan, in July of 1939. They had two daughters.

Frank Sherman Mitchell
Sherm was born 28 October 1914 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He died on 1
December 1981, at Bon Secours Hospital in Grosse Pointe Farms,
Michigan. He married Anne Buhl about 1937 or
'38. She was from a prominent Detroit banking family. They
had one daughter and one son.

Sara Adeline Sherman
Sara was born 16 December 1916 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She died 23 September 1996
in Hobe Sound, Florida. She married first John O'Keefe, who came from
Carthage, Missouri, and attended Yale Law School. They had one son and
one daughter. John, serving in the U.S. Navy, died 18 September 1943,
several weeks prior to the death of his sister-in-law, Mary. His
death was not combat related. Sara married second James Wear Walker in
March of 1948. James was brother of Dorothy Walker, the wife of Connecticut Senator Prescott Bush,
the father of George Herbert Walker Bush, 41st President of the United
States. James died in 1997. They had one
daughter.
