-BRENT-

1st Timber Man on Flint River
|
|
An article
by Edward Carroll Parker about Thomas Ludwell Lee Brent, who married a
lovely Spaniard, then gave up a promising career in diplomacy for a
doomed bid to build a Michigan lumber empire. This articles does
contain one error, stating that Thomas Brent died during the winter of
1858-9. That seems
to be about the time Mrs Brent died, while Thomas Brent is believed to
have died about 1847. Very recently, it has been established that
Thomas Brent's son and daughter did not die in Michigan as Edward C.
Parker suggested, but moved to Buffalo, NY, after the last of the Brent
land in Michigan was sold.
